Google yourself lately?

When your business relies heavily on the net like Surf Ohio does, Google alerts are a super idea to keep track of trends and conversations that involve your name and company. I receive assorted relevant alerts all the time – it is incredible the places and people that are talking about Surf Ohio online. I thought I’d share something about this process totally fun and unexpected, and that’s talking about how many times “Ron Kaplan” pops up in the Google alerts.   Bear with me here - it’s not about yours truly, really!

I have been delighted to find that the Fraternal Order of Ron Kaplans, or FORK, as I call it, is a mighty talented group – these guys are making me feel like a piker (since we’re into acronyms today, that’s a FNG, to you military out there). I think that Surf Ohio fans are the sort that may appreciate learning about a few of them, so I’ll occasionally highlight a new-found FORK member here.

Let me start today by introducing you to the Ron Kaplan of Portland, Oregon. Ron is a fine arts photographer extraordinaire. I thought that THIS Ron Kaplan, your author, has enjoyed a varied career, but Ron of Portland has been a lawyer, contractor, student chef, teacher, and even a winery owner (wow – free Pinot Noir! When can I start?!). He’s a self-taught photographer that went digital in 1999.  You have got to see his gorgeous works for yourself – visit www.ronkaplanphotography.com and check out his gallery. The prints are limited edition and all are for sale. I am saving up sheckels for my favorite now and, as you will see on his site, it will be darn hard to choose one. Ron’s eye for patterns, reflections and nature’s beauty make this Ron’s work look like Polaroid snapshots.  His are truly works of art, plus Ron does his own printing, believe me, an art in itself even in this digital age.

Now, in the interest of recent blogging product promotion disclaimer laws, I must point out that Ron recently purchased a 2009 Cuyahoga Masters t-shirt (turns out he practiced law in Cleveland some time ago), however this Ron’s endorsement of his work has not been solicited.  I just think Ron’s work is worth sharing with you. Frankly, best of all, he’s promised to send one of his sunset shots for posting on SurfOhio.com soon – I can hardly wait.  Don’t forget to send me yours!

So check out the fine art photography on Ron Kaplan’s site- www.ronkaplanphotography.com-  and tell him his fellow FORKer, Ron Kaplan, sent you!   Watch for more FORK’n news here in the future, presented in part thanks to our scary good friends at Google.
